Gagner Ties 8-Point Record held by Gretzky and Coffey!

On Thursday Oiler’s center Sam Gagner made history by scoring 8 points in the Oiler’s 8-4 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. Gagner’s 8 points ties a record held by Wayne Gretzky (who achieved the record twice:  Mar. 19, 1983, and Jan. 4, 1984) and Paul Coffey (who did it on Mar. 14, 1984). Gagner had 4 goals and 4 assists in the win, which was the Oiler’s third straight victory over the Blackhawks, and the second annihilation of the Blackhawks this year. On November 19 the Oilers beat the Hawks by a score of 9-2.

Let’s take a look at Gretzky’s first 8 point night, Gagner’s big game, and also see some footage of Paul Coffey’s record night and hear his comments about Gagner.

Why not start with Gretzky. Please click the link and after the video is over please click the back arrow in your browser to return to my site. Thanks to the Oilers for posting it.

It’s wonderful to be able to have access to Oiler history and to see footage of Gretzky and Coffey—for older people it brings back tremendous memories, and for young people it allows them to see why Gretzky and Coffey were the two greatest that ever played in their respective positions!
